Race Description

We are so excited to bring back an awesome Outer Banks Tradition in the Town of Southern Shores!  Show your thanks this Thanksgiving by running as a family in the 11th annual OBX Turkey Trot. Thanksgiving morning is a perfect time to be surrounded by family and friends in the beautiful town of Southern Shores. Lace up your sneakers and come on out to run or walk with us!  We have pancakes for all participants, one of a kind raffles and the first place male and female will take home our amazing Thanksgiving Pies specially made for your thanksgiving meal!

BEST OF ALL…BACK AGAIN THIS YEAR THE LARGEST FLOCK/FAMILY OR TEAM WILL WIN THE NEW GIGANTIC (6 FOOT TALL) LARGEST FLOCK TROPHY! WE DOUBLED THE SIZE BECAUSE WE LIKE TO DOUBLE THE CHALLENGE FOR YOU BIG FAMILIES!  SO CALL ALL YOUR PEEPS, REGISTER AND TAKE HOME THE GOLD!

The OBX Turkey Trot is a 5k and children’s fun run to support the non-profit organization, OBX GO FAR (Go Out For A Run). OGF is a non-profit children’s program designed to fight childhood obesity by educating children on healthy habits and positive character traits all while training for a 5K or Fun Run.  Your support in our fundraiser event would help us scholarship more children into the program. This year marks our 13th Anniversary of OBX GO FAR and your support has touched the lives of over 10,000 participants in our program!

This is a family fun event, if you want to know your time wear a watch or make sure you look at the clock at the finish line! Parents are encouraged to come out and run with their children. Online registration is now open for 5K $40 and 1 Mile Fun Run  $25. Each registered participant will receive our awesome, one of a kind Trot Concert T-Shirt!  If you have not heard of our concert themed t’s just know that we love music as much as we love running!  In previous years you may have seen our coveted Run DMC turkey concert T or Kiss Turkey’s gone wild!  We can’t wait to show you what we are “BRINGING BACK” for our return of the Trot post pandemic!  Time to get back in the saddle again! (Hint! Hint!)

OBX 5k Turkey Trot Pricing:

ON-LINE REGISTRATION $40 through October!

Please register online to guarantee your shirt and secure your race spot. Registration may be available on site if the event is not full, but we cannot guarantee and will not be able to guarantee the 2022 Turkey Trot shirt after NOVEMBER 4th!

Late Registration Info

If spots are still available, on-site registration will be available (t-shirts will not be guaranteed at on-site registration) at Packet Pick-up Wednesday, November 23 from 2:00 pm – 5:30pm. Race Day Registration is on November 24th. It is open from 7:30 am – 8:30 am. RACE BEGINS AT 9:00AM!

Race Day Information

Parking: Will be available at the Southern Shores town hall or at the Southern Shores shopping center off of HWY 12 on Ocean Boulevard. Please do not park in the Goodwill shopping center located behind town hall.
The 5k will start and finish at the town hall of Southern Shores. This is not a timed event; it is a family fun event. Please wear a watch and observe the race clock to keep track of your time.

Children’s Fun Run:
This is a about a 1 mile run to begin around 10am following the OBX TURKEY TROT. The FUN RUN is for children 12 and under.

Packet Pickup

Wednesday, November 23, 2-5:30 pm at the Town of Southern Shores Town Hall. Located at 5375 N. Virginia Dare Trail at the turn off toward Duck. Next door to Goodwill.
