Dare to Scare 5K & Fun Run

Dare to Scare Event Details
Date: The race will take place on Saturday, October 28th 2017.
Time: 9:00 a.m. 5k begins at Coastal Studies Institute, 10:00 a.m. Fun Run begins at Dare County Center.
Location: The race will begin at the Coastal Studies Institute 850 NC-345, Wanchese, NC 27981, and finish at the Dare County Center, 950 Marshall C. Collins Drive, Manteo, NC 27954.
Course: 3.1 miles beginning in the Coastal Studies Institute parking lot in Skyco, NC, continuing through trails and local residential roads and ending at the Dare County Center in Manteo, NC. No strollers, dogs or bicycles on course please. Traffic control. Water station.
Schedule: 7:30-8:45 a.m. Check-in, packet pick up and late registration at CSI 7:30-8:15 a.m. Shuttle from the Dare County Center (parking & finish line) to Coastal Studies Institute (start line), no return trips to CSI after finish. It is recommended that participants park at the DCC. 9:00 a.m. 5K Race begins, 10:00 a.m. Fun Run begins
Transportation: Pre-race transportation will be provided for runners who choose to park vehicles at the finish line. Ride to CSI will begin at 7:30 a.m. and end at 8:15 a.m. There will be no return trips from the DCC to CSI.
Entry Fee: $25.00 if received by October 2nd, 2017. $35.00 if received by or on Race Day. $10.00 for Fun Run.
5k Participants are guaranteed t-shirts (with sponsors logos and names if applicable) if they are registered by October 1st. For those who register after October 1st t-shirts will be available on a first register first serve basis. Race packets will include any materials that sponsors provide to the Dare County Center. Awards will be given for the top three male and female finishers of the 5k. Medals provided for all participants.
Fun Run Participants are guaranteed a race medal and some sweet surprises.
Packet Pickup: Friday, October 27th, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Dare County Center.
Family & Children Activities: (Non-Race Participants) During the 5K race and immediately following, there will be Halloween activities and games taking place at the Dare County Center. This is open to all age children whose parents/guardians are running the race. Children under 5 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
